I can’t pretend I’m anything other than secretly and peversely rather enjoying starting my podcast journey as host with a conversation about endings. Even more than that though, I enjoyed the conversation with Lucy Parish, Director of Operations at Hopestead. Warm, articulate and thoughtful, Lucy made a great first guest.

Of the many bonds Lucy and I have, not least running small (ish in her case) social enterprises, is that we both left our respective organisations in 2025. To say this is a big moment for a CEO, a founder CEO and someone who has battled the omni-crises, is an understatement.
I can’t quite pinpoint when I first became so aware of the importance of good endings, probably working with young people in the care system, who have often experienced awful endings, compounded by uncertainty, secrecy (sometimes out of necessity) and repeated harm.
Endings can be hard, making conversations about them even more important.
In the coming months I hope to record more podcasts designed to bring hope, new ideas and inspiration to charity and social enterprise leaders. The aim, like everything I do here at Hasler-White Inclusive Facilitation, is to be inclusive and accessible for people stretched to the limit.
